Building a winning D365 Recruitment Team with Liam Hughes

We recently congratulated our Gurus365 Squad Lead, Liam Hughes, on being newly promoted to Associate Director at Digital Gurus.

Since the start of Liam’s journey with us, he’s represented the blueprint of success in a recruitment career. With his efficiency and ability to demonstrate a sustainable strong vision and plan, he has led our Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Gurus365) team to be the highest performing amongst all our recruitment specialisms in 2022.

Our Gurus365 Squad is made up of 5 expert recruitment consultants who truly embed themselves into the industry to understand their clients hiring needs. We sat down with leader, Liam Hughes to learn all about how he grew the team NFI by 300% and doubled his team headcount in 2022.

What do you think is the main contributing factor to the success of Gurus365 over the last 2 years?

"D365 is a diverse product that expands across Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, HR, plus other business areas. Our team have always been motivated to learn everything they can about the market and adapt to the new technologies being introduced, such as Microsoft Power Platform. We immersed ourselves fully in the market and have become true specialists in the market.

Our success so far has come from fully embedding ourselves into our clients needs by understanding the platform they are using and installing."

The team grew significantly from the beginning of 2021 to the end of 2022. Was there a key shift in the D365 market that meant we had to adapt?

"When I first started with DG, it was Jared Martin and myself on the Gurus365 Squad. We grew the team gradually and gained more key clients with our market knowledge and dedication. The D365 market is a strong and heavily invested product and as a team, we understood this wasn’t going to slow down. To put all our effort into this specialism, we had to grow our headcount whilst upskilling ourselves to fully prepare for the market demand."

What would be your top advice for anyone looking for a role in D365 this year?

"Keep up to date with the trends in the D365 space and take your time to understand the different releases as they come out. Be mindful of other areas and invest time in the Microsoft Power Platform, as it’s changing and revolutionising the Finance, HR, and Supply Chain space."
